The Kiwanis Performing Arts Centre in Dawson Creek, BC, is currently looking to hire experienced Dance Instructors for the 2019-2020 Dance Season.

Registration for the season begins in June 2019 and season begins in Sept 2019 & ending May 2020.

Positions are 2-10+ hours per week, but additional hours may be required. Applicants must be willing to teach morning, afternoon and evening hours.

We are looking for energetic dance instructors to teach classes in Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Lyrical, Ballet & other styles are welcome. (RAD accreditation preferred). We currently offer classes to youth as young as 3 in both competitive and recreational streams, and also offer adult programs as well.

Teachers looking not only to help develop solid technique and artistry in their students, but also teach them skills needed for all areas of life; self-discipline, time management, confidence, creativity etc.

We are looking for positive attitude, ability to set boundaries, considerate and creative teaching style and individuals with a passion to teach and a love of the arts.

Willingness to work with administrative staff in areas of students, communication, performances, scheduling, staff meetings and polices.


Responsibilities:
• Ability to deliver classes to different age groups (Preschool, School Age, Youth, Adult)
• Select and provide appropriate music for the class
• In-depth knowledge of dance theory and techniques, create choreography.
• Ability to act as mentor or role model, provide safe environment to students.
• Offer mutual respect, support and communication with other instructors.
• Behave in a professional manner
• Continue with education and professional development


Qualifications:
• 2-3 Years’ instruction experience.
• R.A.D certified preferred.
• Organized, self-motivated, punctual, reliable, and friendly.
• Committed to providing professional instruction and upholding the tradition
• Excellent communication skills with students, parents, staff and management
• Clear criminal record check.


Minimum of 2 references from former teachers or students

Job Type: Contract
Rate of pay dependent on experience and qualifications. Possibility of continued employment. Salary negotiable.
